Disregarded People (2013) – Storyline/Plot:

An out-of-work truck driver named Yuusuke Mamiana returns to his hometown where he’s met with suspicious disdain from everyone except a young woman named Kyoko Okabe. She has a large bruise-like birthmark on her cheek and also happens to be the only person willing to greet Yusuke with a smile. After aggressively pursuing Kyoko and almost raping her, the sex-obsessed Yusuke settles for something resembling a more traditional relationship. However, it soon becomes apparent the two have very different ideas of how to attain happiness.

Young man, Yusuke Mamiana, fed up with his life meets a unattractive ugly girl, Kyoko, at his hometown. Out of his impulsive desire, he had a relationship by nearly raping her. They started to live together and gradually feel ‘Family’ attachment in each other. As time passes, Yusuke starts to think more about ‘Happiness’ of his family and himself.

Review of Disregarded People (2013 Film):

“Disregarded People” is suffused with a deep-dyed existential cynicism, never jauntier than when its characters are having vigorous, unattractive sex, which they almost always are. Everybody cheats on everyone else; love is a thing that takes rather than gives, when experienced at all. It’s only in the occasional moments when the pic seems to back away from this utterly bleak (yet funny) viewpoint to flirt with a sincere yearning that it feels a bit off — the softer tone just doesn’t work in this context.

Some viewers will no doubt take offense at so much crude, animalistic coupling treated as comedy, let alone at the rather cavalier attitude taken toward rape. (Here, “no” invariably means sorta-kinda “yes.”) But there is little question that the filmmakers and very game cast punch things across on their own bracingly singular terms. They eke humor and some hapless humanity from a vision whose point is that everything is, well, pointless.
